Fertility

There are ways to boost your natural fertility through complementary therapies. If you are finding it hard to get pregnant, you might feel frustrated and alienated. You might be wondering what else you can do? When trying to become pregnant, there are ways that you can improve your overall health, wellbeing and mindset to prime your body and give it the best chance of success.

We offer a range of services that will support you in all of these areas:

  • Nutritional Therapy
Without a doubt nutrition is the cornerstone to laying down the foundations for a healthy pregnancy and baby. Nutrients play an essential role in creating and maintaining healthy eggs and sperm that will go onto fertilise, implant and grow a healthy baby. There is so much conflicting advice around diet and supplements when trying for a baby naturally, and we are able to cut through the generalisations and develop a personalised and targeted nutritional plan for you as a couple.
  • Homeopathy
There are many reasons why couples struggle to get pregnant and carry a pregnancy through to term. More and more frequently, we are seeing a range of gynaecological pathologies such as fibroids, polycystic ovaries and endometriosis which may make getting pregnant more problematic. Often there is an emotional aspect. Homeopathy addresses the root cause
and seeks to restore balance making conditions for pregnancy more favourable.
  • Coaching
Your mindset is one of the most powerful things you can use to support you through challenging times. If you are worried about not immediately falling pregnant or are worried about anything else relating to your fertility, coaching can help you to implement strategies that work for you in order to alleviate feeling stressed and to stay focused on what you want in a mindful and calm way.
  • Counselling
Trying for a baby can be an emotional time, a time when relationships may become strained or you may be in need of some space to talk about what you are going through. By attending some counselling sessions it may help process your thoughts, feelings and help to calm your mind in preparation for the journey ahead of being a parent. Counselling can help talk about fertility worries, miscarriage and general health concerns. Talking to somebody away from your normal friendship/family groups is useful allowing you space to connect to your own feelings.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a life changing experience. For some, pregnancy is a joyful and exciting experience, others may be scared and anxious. Most women experience a mix of emotions. We have a team of experts passionate about supporting women through this period which can present many physical and emotional challenges.

We offer a range of services that will support you in all of these areas:

  • Birth Doula
Offering continuity of care through what is a life changing time of your life, a doula provides emotional and practical support throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth.  With so many options available it can be rather daunting to decide what is right for you. Having a doula means there will be someone who is completely focused on listening to what you want and help alleviate any concerns you may have. Our antenatal preparation is tailored just for you so you get the support and guidance that you and your partner need.
  • Midwifery
  • Hypnobirthing Antenatal Education
ZenBirth’s hypnobirthing courses offer a comprehensive antenatal education programme.  The courses include evidence-based information and guidance on pregnancy, labour, birth and early parenting, plus highly effective breathing, relaxation, massage, self-hypnosis and birthing techniques. Mothers are supported in gaining confidence in their birthing abilities. Birth partners gain skills to take an active and supportive role. And together parents are empowered to have the birth that they want.
  • Naturopathy
Pregnancy should be a time in which you should be enjoying the journey and not feeling miserable with morning sickness, tiredness, cravings, cramps, changes in bowel habits, baby brain, heart burn, and water retention to name a few. A naturopath can help you deal with all these ailments as well as after you've given birth by helping you regain your energy and body back, through a series of dietary and supplement additions, aromatherapy and massage -  a naturopath can also help you with breastfeeding advice or any other post birth concerns.
  • Prenatal Yoga
Prenatal Yoga classes offer a beautiful space where women learn to connect with their changing bodies, their babies & each other.Yoga is an excellent way to prepare the mind, body and spirit for the many transitions of pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood. In Pregnancy yoga classes, you will learn invaluable breath awareness & breathing techniques, modified poses along with partner poses which can help strengthen and relax your body, and sooth your mind during pregnancy, labout & the birth process. Additionally, these approaches will give you the opportunity to connect more deeply to yourself, your partner and your baby. Pregnancy Yoga classes are also a wonderful opportunity to meet other pregnant Mums to be.  This helps to build a sense of community/sisterhood. It can be very comforting to be with a group of women who understand what we are going through.
  • Nutritional Therapy
A healthy diet is important throughout pregnancy and has been shown to increase the chances of, for example, a better birth weight, increased baby brain development and decreased risk of certain birth defects. In fact scientists are now beginning to believe that some adult diseases are established while the baby is developing in the mother’s womb so the long-term health of your child may be determined from the very beginning.  Additionally, good nutrition is needed for the mother during pregnancy to help avoid or overcome problems such as anaemia, heart burn, pre-eclampsia, morning sickness, fatigue, constipation and mood swings and to help with post-natal recovery.
  • Homeopathy
My two passions are homeopathy and pregnancy. Pregnancy is often a time when women become more concerned about taking medications and their effect on their unborn baby. I have worked with many pregnant clients and used homeopathy for many pregnancy related issues including morning sickness, UTI’s, haemorrhoids, heart burn and digestive issues.
Homeopathy is safe to take during pregnancy and can help prepare you for the birth of your baby.
  • Massage
eing pregnant is such a wonderful time for most women. Feeling your baby growing, counting the kicks, scans, the wonder of who is this little person going to be, what will they look like, the excitement of it all. Then there’s the down side, the niggling aches and pains of pregnancy, the fact that you can’t remember what your toes look like, because you haven’t seen them in a while. Massage can really help alleviate these aches and pains, helping you to relax and have an hour just for you.

Birth

While taking a newborn baby in your arms is usually the joyful prize after the pregnancy and labour, there are a myriad of common issues that can cause new parents concern. Each baby is different, some arrive after a calm and beautiful birth, take to the breast beautifully and seem to sail through all the milestones without too many difficulties. Others may have had a less gentle entrance to the world and take longer to adjust to life outside the womb. At some point, you may need some support when your baby becomes ill or unsettled.

We offer a range of services that will support you in all of these areas:

  • Birth Doula
Having spent time antenatally getting to know exactly what you want or how you may feel, allows us to be a constant reassurance throughout your labour and birth. No matter what how your labour and birth develop, having a doula means that you are supported and reassured at what can be a highly emotional time.  Our role of continuity means no matter how long your labour and birth your doula will be there supporting both you and your partner through this life changing time.
  • Homeopathy
A homeopathic birthing kit can be a real asset during labour. Ideally, you will have been working with a homeopath during your pregnancy. Often, a constitutional remedy is all you need if your labour slows or stops. There are a range of remedies that can be useful to help with various situations during labour – for example if your contractions stop or slow down, if you
feel queasy or if you are just not coping well.
  • Placenta Encapsulation
The placenta is full of rich iron, amino acids, stem cells, vitamins, hormones and essential fats which are believed to be the perfect replenishment following the physical exertion of pregnancy, labour and birth.  By taking the placenta, dehydrating and grinding, you are then left with easy to consume capsules which energise, stabilise hormones in warding of postnatal depression and can also increase milk supply as just a few of the amazing benefits. The placenta supports a healing mother after birth in many forms.  Placenta smoothies, capsules, creams, tinctures, essences and homeopathic remedies can all be made using the placenta; each may have their own benefit to the body and encourage a quicker more natural recovery after birth.

Postnatal

This can be a tricky period sometimes with a Tsunami of conflicting emotions. With hormones raging while still recovering from birth, mums sometimes feel they are thrown into motherhood. Some thrive and others may take longer to adjust with sleep deprivation clouding their ability to function as they did before baby. Sometimes it is an achievement just to get dressed as you meet the
demands of your baby. If you are breastfeeding then it is really important to get support if you have any concerns. Most feeding concerns are very easily remedied and there are baby cafes running every weekday in Lewisham where you can get free help and support. We also have a small team specifically to support women in pregnancy and postnatally.

We offer a range of services that will support you in all of these areas:

  • Postnatal Doula
The arrival of a new baby is an incredibly special time as well as a time of transition. A postnatal doula can help ease the transition by providing practical and emotional support to new mother and her family in the weeks after birth so she can focus on resting, recovering and enjoying time with her new baby.
  • Midwifery
  • Nutritional Therapy
Pregnancy and child-birth are taxing for the body so it’s really important to look after your body during and after your pregnancy.  Some women suffer from post-natal depression in the months following the birth of their child but this can be avoided with optimum nutrition. A good diet can also help provide you with the energy and stamina needed for looking after your newborn and help you get your body back in shape.
  • Homeopathy
Homeopathy can be invaluable postnatally. There are a number of remedies that can help speed up healing immediately after the birth. With professional advice, homeopathy can also help with the ‘baby blues’ and breastfeeding problems including thrush, mastitis, sore and cracked nipples and milk supply.
  • Postnatal & Baby Yoga
Mum and baby yoga is a wonderful opportunity to nourish yourself while deepening the bond with your baby. The classes focus on yoga postures specifically designed for the postnatal months by helping your body regain strength and tone in a safe and effective way. The emphasis is on holding space in a relaxed environment where you can regain flexibility, strengthen the pelvic floor, the abdomen, cores muscles, legs and back as well as on opening and relaxing tensions in the shoulders, neck and arms and help fatigue. The yoga taught in these classes is gentle & slow, giving you time to integrate the experiences of your body after birth and to help support your post birth recovery. The classes will cover postures for both you & baby – through gentle stretching & interactive play - as well as provide a safe place with other mums to honour your emotions and the beautiful (sometimes challenging) journey of motherhood.

Childhood

Just when you think you have got the hang of parenting, your child reaches key milestones, and things change again. Your child finds their feet and voice and havoc reigns again. This stage can be a period of transition for the whole family - it is often during this time mothers return to work and your child may need to get used to some form of childcare. If your child is now mixing with children at nursery or playgroups, they are exposed to all sorts of bugs and viruses, which is a really important phase in building up their immunity.

We offer a range of services that will support you in all of these areas:

  • Nutritional Therapy
At an early age most children are starting to eat proper food and the importance of good nutrition on their physical and emotional wellbeing cannot be underestimated. Educating their palate to enjoy healthy foods sets the foundation for good nutrition and health for the rest of their life. Nutritional therapy will also support children with common childen's conditions such as digestive discomforts, skin problems (eczema), asthma, UTI's, frequent colds and flues and etc.
  • Homeopathy
Many parents come to homeopathy feeling uneasy about the volume of medications prescribed by the GP for many common health issues such as ear aches, tonsillitis, eczema, allergies, asthma, UTIs etc. A good constitutional remedy can help children become more resilient and usually the aim of treatment is to reduce the number and intensity of acute illness as well as offering treatment during episodes of illness. In addition, we are now seeing an exponential increase in conditions such as autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. Homeopathy offers an alternative perspective on these conditions.
  • Coaching
Coaching will support you to remain balanced and focused in your interaction with your child and what you do as a parent. You will greatly benefit from an objective voice to guide you when you need it, helping you to provide your child with solid foundations and positive references that can be relied upon throughout their lives.
  • Childrens & Family Yoga
Children's yoga has many benefits through exercise and play it physically enhances their body awareness, strength, flexibility and coordination. In addition it helps improve listening, concentration,  calm and relaxation.
Family yoga is a great way to bond with your child and a marvellous way to bring out the inner light that all children have to the surface and parents
